Go Racing - IndexGo Racing - goracing - IndexProKart Challenge might be new to Northern California, but the
well-oiled machine that rolled into Infineon is definitely seasoned.
The series brought its acclaimed Southern California staff to conduct
the event, many of which are responsible for running the
SKUSA Super Nationals. Nearly 100 racers lined the paddock
anxious to do battle, with a handful of marquee drivers amidst
the ranks.
Swiss Hutless had a terrific showing at the inaugural ProKart
Challenge North race with drivers Matt Alcorn and Herman Ip
crossing the line in the top spot of their respective classes. Alcorn
decimated the S4 field leaving the fight for second place. He finished
a full 14 seconds ahead of Sergio Machado. Ip concluded
a hard fought race in TaG Masters Light, narrowly edging out
David Oroshnik for the win. Meanwhile in Tag Masters, Jim Ferguson
bested the G.P.’s of Rob Soares and Steve Elo, with the
CRG of Ross Jones finishing in 4th.
Herman Ip
Tom Dyer continued to make winning look easy on board his G.P.
S3 package. Dyer pulled off the elusive “trifecta,” winning both
heat races and the 15 lap final. Jason Toft and Matt Hauff gave
chase, but in the end they were left to scrap it out for the final
spots on the podium.
S1 and G1 were combined, which made for some very interesting
racing. The Trackmagic team was in full force, continuing
their efforts to cement the new Speed family relationship. Driver
Alex Speed showed his remarkable talent yet again by taking the
black and gold to another victory in the S1 class. Cody Hodgson
and Jess Peterson made it interesting, but in the end it was
Speed that prevailed. In G1, Craig Corwin was the man to beat
in his MBA, crossing the stripe ahead of Ethan Wilson and Rocky
Allen. Corwin was blistering fast, mere tenths off of the S1 drivers
half his age.
